South Gloucestershire Academy v U9s JPL

A tough afternoon at Yate for the boys against a very strong side with plenty of players in reserve. Nothing really went right for the boys, although in the first third Noah and Edwin created chances to get the score back to level pegging which would have changed the momentum of the game.

There were plenty of good moments where the boys showed their class but without the end product. Ben and Kosmo worked hard to break down attacks as did Alfie and Rory, who must have covered 10k between them during the game. Edwin and Noah often threatened but SG proved a hard but to crack until Rory got Wells on the board with a good move involving Noah and Edwin.

Wells got a second through the prolific goal-scoring machine that is Noah and began to assert themselves. However, SG scored three goals in a short space of time which changed the momentum of the game again. Understandably it was a little tough for the boys the raise their spirits and energy levels (SG had three subs), but despite an injury to Ben which forced him off they kept trying right to the end and deservedly got a third goal in slightly bizarre circumstances as an SG defender dribbled the ball past his own goalkeeper.

JB made several great saves towards the latter part of the game as SG had their tails up.

Well done boys for the effort playing a strong side and without much luck on our side.

Goals: Rory, Noah, OG
MoM: Alfie/Kosmo - Kosmo made several excellent goal-line clearances and Alfie never stopped running.
