Aller Park v U9s Warriors

Another Aller Park away fixture had onlookers fearing a repeat of previous "unjust" results in the cold Somerton wind, but that was not to be as the Warriors grabbed an impressive point in their first Knock-Out Plate match.
A tentative start from both sides was broken by the Warriors: a deep cross from Eddie was well taken on the turn by Isaac. Unfortunately a quick equaliser brought the home side level.
Just before the end of the first quarter, an Aller Park player fell in the area to give a controversial penalty, which perhaps appropriately they dragged wide to the left. In the second quarter, Isaac - having been unceremoniously chopped down just outside the Aller Park box - lined up to take the free kick in Ronaldo-esque stance ready to fire in a rocket, only to dink it to the left of the wall to Dylan, whose shot was saved by the keeper.
At the other end the very handy Aller Park number 8 made a good run through the centre of the park, hitting a powerful shot to the left side of the goal which looked like it was heading in until Alfie, unsighted by his defence, leaped like a salmon to tip the ball around the post with one hand. One for the cameras.
With the match finely poised at half-time, bogey team Aller Park took the lead in the third quarter after a ricochet in the box resulted in a boot getting the ball in the Warriors net. It looked like they might snatch the game again, but in the fourth quarter, with Aller Park's useful number 8 now in goal, the Warriors leapt into action: a good break by Ethan through the middle gave him options to pass square to Isaac, but instead Ethan beat the last defender, then passed forward to a completely free Isaac to beat the keeper and level the scores at 2-2.
This was quickly followed by a run from the centre by Dylan out to the left, who despite the tight angle, scored a stunning individual goal, beating the keeper into the roof of the net: 2-3.
The Warriors then rode their luck a few times with (the normally clinical) Aller Park dragging a few shots wide in good positions. The Warriors also had their chances, but similarly, couldn't quite hit the mark. It could have gone either way, but an Aller Park cross dropped nicely in the box for a home player to knock into the net from close range, levelling the scores at 3-3. Then it was just who would get the slice of luck needed to snatch the win.
The Warriors again showed strong spirit and effort to come from behind in the fourth quarter, and could feel a little unlucky not to have come away with the win after a few good chances in particular by Ethan and Isaac at the end, but a draw may have been a fair consolation for the lads in another tight game.

Goals: Isaac 2, Dylan
Martin's man of the match: Isaac - tireless effort and tenacity, constantly getting the better of the Aller Park defence, always looking threatening, and 2 goals.
