Bradford Abbas vs WELLS JPL

Wells JPL played the second of their friendly double-header against another Yeovil League side and enjoyed a festive stroll on a brisk morning down in Dorset. Bradford Abbas are in the league's top division so are clearly a talented side, but they were blown away by a ruthless attacking performance from Wells.

Despite the eventual gulf in quality, it was difficult to split the sides in the early exchanges. Wells took the lead in the third minute only to swiftly find themselves 2-1 down as the hosts fought back. Two more goals saw the score hit 3-3 halfway through the first period, but that was as close as Bradford got to matching their visitors.

Wells JPL's bleary eyed coaches (it is Christmas party season) asked for more composure on the ball from the boys as they went out for the second period, and within a few seconds they had gone back in front with a slick move that was finished by Alfie. The goals began to come thick and fast, and describing them all here will be a thankless task. Suffice to say the home side couldn't live with the incisive attacking football played by Wells, with Noah a constant thorn in their side with his direct running and clever passing. Edwin was his usual menacing self, while Alfie was all over the pitch and Shea grew into the game so strongly that all four of his well-deserved goals came in the final quarter.

After a shaky start at the back, the back door was firmly closed by Josh B, Kosmo and Ben. JB had little to do as the match wore on, but was focused enough to superbly tip a powerful second-half shot over the bar. Kosmo was his usual strong, determined self, while Ben enjoyed his best game for the JPL side so far - defending well and displaying great composure and vision in possession. Well done, Ben!

The game's two best goals both involved Alfie. First he played a superb diagonal ball to Edwin on the edge of the box, who took a touch and played it inside for Noah to run onto and finish. Then from a typically dangerous Edwin corner, Alfie timed his back-post run to perfection to volley home to the delight of his coaches.

The final whistle came as a welcome relief to the home side, who were completed outplayed by a side that has now scored 32 goals in their last three games.

Goals: Noah (6), Shea (4), Edwin (3), Alfie (2)
Man of the match (Tom's decision): It's difficult to choose a stand-out performer in such a dominant display, but Noah was in imperious form and the home side couldn't handle him. Six goals and six assists demonstrate the impact he had on the match.
