Excellent Team Performance

The Colts played their first game on an artificial surface at Westland on Saturday and adapted well to what was an excellent facility.

The hosts started quickly as their strong and direct number eight fired an unstoppable shot past JB, who had already made one splendid save. However, the boys kept their shape and stayed calm which paid dividends when Louis equalised and then quickly bagged a second to give the Colts a lead that they did not relinquish.

Harry responded well after two misses with a clever finish to make it 3-1 after being played through by Jaden. The discipline and tireless running has been a feature of the Colts improvement this season and, although Westland pulled one back through a brilliant individual goal just before the end of the first quarter, the boys looked in the box seat.

From then on it was one-way traffic. Three smashing strikes from Louis, Caleb and Harry extended the lead as the floodgates opened. The scoreline didn’t flatter the boys as time and time again they won the ball at the back or in midfield, with JoJo and Jaden in particular making excellent decisions and starting several attacks.

Harry, Louis and Caleb all completed hat-tricks, but the final goal from super-stopper JB in the final minutes was the most memorable on Remembrance weekend.
