Castle Cary v Colts

Castle Cary travelled to Wells with a strong record behind them, but left having been taught a footballing lesson by a Colts team that still haven't dropped a single point this season.

With Cary waiting on a late-arriving player, the match began 6v6 and the Colts initially struggled with the last-minute change of formation. However, the arrival of Cary's seventh man saw the match burst into life, with the Colts scoring three goals in little under two minutes to take a lead they never looked like surrendering.

The first was a quality solo effort by Daniel, who held off a defender and fired into the bottom right corner. Less than a minute later, Noah hit a first-time pass across the area that Louis clipped into the far corner. With Cary rattled, Wells went for the jugular. Noah sent a left-foot cross into the area that Daniel turned home and the game was effectively over as a contest.

The second quarter saw the Colts have almost all of the ball. They squandered several chances, before Noah spun off his marker from a throw-in and crossed for Louis to side-foot home. Half-time came with the Colts buoyed by the news that their Warriors team-mates had won so emphatically. The challenge was on to beat their margin of victory!

Goal number five came when Noah dribbled through the Cary defence and squared the ball for Caleb to tap home. Caleb returned the favour shortly afterwards when his ball into the box led to a mix-up in the Cary defence - with Noah picking up the loose ball and rounding the keeper to score.

Jaden - who was a constant thorn in the side for the Cary attackers - played a superb ball into the box for Dan to fire home his hat-trick, before Noah challenged the keeper which led to the ball breaking loose for Dan to grab his fourth goal of the game. Noah's final contribution before going in goal was a shot from the right channel that the keeper could only parry into his own net.

Caleb kicked off the scoring in the fourth and final quarter when he whipped in a fine cross from the right that found the net via the keeper's fingertips. Louis scored two late goals to put the seal on a dominant win that the Colts are finding routine these days.

Despite the team being dominant in attack, JoJo and Zack were outstanding at the back. Not only did they break up play whenever Cary broke forward, but both were calm and composed on the ball to set their team-mates free every time they won possession.
