Reading FC - Wiltshire DC vs WELLS JPL

Wells JPL got back to winning ways with a superb attacking display against Reading FC's Wiltshire development centre.
The boys deserve enormous credit for overcoming a stubborn Reading side, who certainly weren't afraid to circumvent the laws of the game in their efforts to peg back their superior opponents. They epitomised what the JPL seems to be about - direct running by big, physical boys combined with long-range shooting from all over the pitch.
The early stages of the game followed a frustrating pattern: Wells taking the lead several times followed by unlucky defensive lapses allowing Reading back into it each time. Noah scored a couple of poacher's finishes in that spell, before he completed his hat-trick by dribbling down the left channel, holding off his marker and finishing superbly into the far corner.
With the teams level, Rory put Wells back in front with one of the goals of the season so far. Receiving the ball 20 yards from the Reading goal, he cut inside a defender and sent a superb curling effort beyond the keeper and into the far corner. Unfortunately Wells struggled with Reading's powerfully hit corners and somehow found themselves behind at the halfway point.
But knowing they were the better team they refused to accept defeat and dug deep to force their way back into the contest. Two more goals from Noah - both instinctive finishes after the Reading keeper spilled crosses - were followed by a fine finish by Edwin after a great lay-off from Noah.
Wells smelt blood and quickly built a lead they never looked like surrendering. First Alfie stabbed home from an Edwin corner, before Noah finished first-time into the roof of the net from a Rory pull-back and Edwin rounded things off with a superb long-range hit.
Daniel enjoyed a fine third-period in goal, making an excellent diving save to his right late on to deny Reading a goal, while determined defending from Kosmo and debutant Ben ensured a comfortable end to the game.
