South Gloucestershire Academy vs WELLS JPL

Wells JPL got their Junior Premier League campaign off to a promising start, despite ending up second best to South Gloucestershire Academy. Wells were in front for a third of the match and should be proud of their efforts for matching a physical side that were well used to the 3G surface, having played there for three years.

Wells took the lead when a cross from Noah found the far corner of the net, and looked more than comfortable holding their lead as the halfway point of the match approached. But with the boys beginning to tire in a match played at a frenetic pace, South Glos began to turn the screw and went in front with three goals in quick fashion to leave Wells chasing the game. The boys didn't give up, however, and got themselves back in the game thanks to a long-range free-kick and a penalty from Noah, together with a great strike from Daniel and a further strike from Noah.

Unfortunately the boys struggled with corners late on and handed South Glos a decisive advantage, but they should hold their heads up high for pushing a strong, experienced side all the way. The JPL is going to be a tough challenge but the boys proved they'll be able to hold their own and will learn a great deal from the experience.

Goals: Noah (4), Daniel
Man of the match: Kosmo was immense at the back - a virtuoso defensive display.
