U18s progress.........

Wells City U18s travelled to Welton Rovers in the second qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup where they took part in a pulsating tie, it was Welton who took the lead early on and added another before a stunning free kick from Shaka Moody  pulled one back. Wells had much of the possession but could not find a way through until another exceptionally free kick made it 2 for Moody to level thigs at half time.
The home side took the lead once again before a through ball from substitute Reece Cornish put Xavier in on goal where he levelled the tie. City began to take control of the game and played some neat football with Jack Bromham & Sam Harris working tirelessly on the flanks with Nik Healy and Moody always looking to attack. Another attack led to a fine goal from Liam Davies to put the visitors in front for the first time. The tie was real end to end with both sides having chances but it was Welton who equalised to make it 4 – 4 at the end of normal time.

Into  extra time and Wells carried on creating chances with and it was Cornish who scored to put City into the lead, on 101 minutes Xavier scored a fine goal to put the Blues firmly in control, Welton continued to ask questions and the defence of Tom Diamond, Cam Glendinning, Oak Sheldrake and Louie Ellis kept them firmly sat bay.
A well taken solo finish from Cornish in the 115th minute sealed a well-deserved victory.
