Wells travelled to Backwell in this FA Youth cup match played in blustery wet conditions. Wells got off to a fine start with Liam Davies netting after just 2 minutes on the clock. Wells played some neat pass and move football when Sam Harris was fouled in the penalty area and the resulting spot kick was perfectly executed by Nik Healy. City, in Yellow continued to press and Liam Davies went on a mazy run but was brought down in the box and Healy calmly put away his second penalty of the evening. The back four of Cam Glendinning, Angus Panton, Tom Diamond and Oak Sheldrake were resolute in defence keeping out the forwards of Ashton & Backwell and keeper Tom Creed making fine saves when needed. Ashton pulled one back just before the break.
The second half got under way and City continued to play some lovely football, Harris on the left flank crossed a delightful ball towards the back post where Jack Bromham rose above the defender to head home. Ashton had their chances but some fine keeping from Creed kept them at bay. A fine solo effort from Davies made it five before a Shaka Moody freekick wrapped things up.
A good team performance which sees a trip to Welton in the next round.
