Following a morning inspection the pitch was playable and it turned out to be perfect conditions. Wells started brightly but didn’t really create any clear chances on goal until on 19 minutes Dan Catley was upended in the box and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Ryan Morris took the resulting kick, only for it to saved by the keeper. Wells then began to pressurise the Nailsea back line but couldn’t find the killer pass. On 35 Olly Bryant managed poked home after a goalmouth scramble to make it 1-0. Mike Roper in the Wells goal was a spectator for the whole of the first half. The half finished with no other clear cut chances for either side.
Following a stern half time talking to Wells came out for the second half with renewed energy. Some good short passing football began to create chances. Wells then introduced leading scorer Olly Edwards into the action and he immediately linked up with Darren Maynard, who finished with a deftly lifted shot over the advancing keeper to make it 2-0. Wells then got complacent and were guilty of numerous unforced errors as they allowed Nailsea to begin to dictate play. Nailsea finally getting on the score sheet on 65 minutes, following several missed tackles before scrambling the ball in. This made Wells’ play even more nervous. With Nailsea in the ascendency their centre back received an innocuous kick to the head which delayed the play for some 5 or 6 minutes. This allowed Wells to regroup and when play resumed Wells took hold of the game. Olly Edwards completed the scoring with 10 minutes to go, when he went on mazy run and finished with a low drive into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.
