Reserves earn a point

Wells went into this game hoping to make amends for last week’s defeat and take 3 points.
The first chance came as early as the 5th minute, when a Dan Catley free kick hit to the far post was somehow miskicked by the advancing Charlie Crook. 5 minutes later Wells fell behind, when they failed to tackle a Chilcompton forward who got a shot away from the edge of the box, but the unfortunate Harrison Veale slipped and was unable to prevent the ball from nestling in the corner. Veale then made amends pulling off a point blank save following a defensive mix up. Wells almost drew level on 35 minutes when a Sam Andrews shot was parried by the Chilcompton keeper only to be brilliantly saved from the rebound. The equaliser came 4 minutes later when a foul on Andrews was waived on by the referee and George Carey picked up the loose ball and hit a low drive to the keepers right. Chilcompton regained the lead a minute before half time when once again a lack of communication in the Wells defence seen a soft goal conceded.
Following the “hair dryer” treatment from manager Arron Wickham, the second half started in much the same vain with both sides creating half chances and following a reshuffle by Wells they got their just reward. A great passage of play seen Crook with a deft flick over the flat footed Chilcompton defender which fell to Andrews who’s cross was met by the advancing Carey to steer the ball home. Chilcompton had the best chance to get the all elusive winner but the shot was well blocked by the legs of Martyn Sheppard. Both sides continued to press for a winner with both defences coming out on top. A draw the final outcome and a fair result.
