Winscombe came to Wells and went away with 3 points to halt the promotion push.

Winscombe started well and put the home side on the back foot from kick off, Wells struggling to get a hold of the ball and with Charlie Crook missing from Injury in the midfield failed to break into the oppositions half. Winscombe took advantage of the home sides failure to control the game, with a succession of corners stand in keeper for the day Mike Roper deputizing again for the Injured regular Steve Coppell was constantly put under pressure.

A nervous looking Wells who are close to promotion , started to find some control and pull some passes together, however, Winscombe took the lead midway through the half when a poor clearance landed at the feet of the big striker whose shot was saved by Roper only for the attacking side to pick up the rebound, and with time to play the ball across the box to pick out the #9 to fire home 0-1 down. Wells started on the front foot looking fro the equaliser but struggled to overcome the strong away defence. The Introduction of Ryan Pledger shortly after the break for Hurley the big forward managed to create some chances without success.
Wells pressed but were unable to create many chances, and from a Wells corner Winscombe broke quickly leaving Russell one on one in the home box, only to tangle with the Winscombe forward and give away a penalty in the 80th minute which Winscombe #9 finished to put them 2 up, 0-2 down.
In the dying moments, a Catley cross was met by the head of Pledger to score and give the home team some hope but time was against them and the game finished 1-2 to Winscombe
