On another clear day in Wells, the reserves maintained there unbeaten start to the season against the first real test of the season against a battling Combe.

A quick start saw both teams looking to attack with some end to end play from the off.

A series of corners from early pressure saw Wells having the first chance of the game as Dave Holder, Ryan Pledger and Ryan Crowther seeing half chances not taken. Charlie Crook and Holder combined to set up Crowther with an opportunity but the final ball caught Crowther off-side with through on goal.
Combe created a number of opportunities with marksman Richard Hebditch a real threat home keepers Mike Ropers goal for the visitors. It was Hebditch who went close on 20 minutes when his snap shot hitting the side netting when he got away from the Wells defence with his pace.

With some smart play by Scott Hurley and Zach Hall for the home side forced another home corner and from a Dan Catley kick, Holder was unlucky not to score with a far post header. Ryan Pledger again proved to be a handful up front and he let fly with an ambitious shot on the run to see his shot fly high and wide.

It was 0-0 at the break with both teams frustrated in not taking the lead in this hard.

Wells came out for the second half showing some ambition to open the scoring and they didn't have too long to wait. Jordan Bazley making his second appearance of the season, forced another corner on the right and from an in swinging corner from James Russell, it was the Holder who rose above the away defence to head home from 6 yards to open the scoring

Again the home side pressed and were rewarded with a second goal just 5 minutes later. Some great work by Crowther and Tyler Cornish on the left saw a deep cross finished off at the far post with a smart finish from Hall to make it 2-0 on 58 minutes.
With Wells in control of the game, it was against the run of play that witnessed Combe grab a goal from a corner. From some good work by Hebditch and his cross that wasn't cleared fell nicely to Rob Stubbins to pull one back for the away side.

Wells didn't give up with the attacking style and with the welcomed return to action of striker Darren Maynard his forward play with Hurley opened up the away defence for Hall whose maisie run past 3 defenders was swept home as he shot past the Combe keeper from just inside the box to make it 3-1.
Organised defending by Martyn Sheppard, Russell and Bazley prevented any further Combe chances with the game ending with Combe down to 10 men.
