A solid display earned Wells a comprehensive victory

A solid display earned Wells a comprehensive victory over their opponents who reside quite high in their respective East division of the County League. The first half saw Wells dominate proceedings with much possession and opportunities created. Darren Maynard opened the scoring for Wells as he took full advantage of one of the many crosses supplied by Joe Grant, and found the corner of the net. With continued pressure Darren added a second as he rounded the keeper to guide home. More chances were created with Scott Hurley unlucky not to add to the tally as his header hit the upright from close range. Unfortunately with many chances being created there was no further score and the half finished 0 - 2 to Wells.

The first opportunity of the 2nd period came early and it fell to Wells, Charles Crook was put through one on one, only to lift his speculative shot just wide as it bounced the wrong side of the post. Wells were made to pay for that miss as Welton upped their game and started to create opportunities for themselves. The Home side reduced the arrears as they bundled the ball over the line from a Corner as Wells failed to clear their lines. This made the game very tense and Wells were in need of a boost. This came from the gifted boot of the very talented James Russell, who scored a wonderful free kick from 20 yards out which left the home side in stunned. This was soon followed by a third from Darren Maynard who finished the game off nicely and seal the win.
