Wells City 2-0 Westbury Utd
After a mediocre performance on Friday against Shepton Wells bounced back on Monday with a great win at home to Westbury, with Darren Maynard involved in both goals earning him the man of the match award.
Wells started well with Maynard seeing plenty of the ball down the right wing giving the visitors all sorts of problems, Wells midfield trio of Ross Padfield, Fabio Ramos and Steve Sokol took control of the game and with some great through balls to Maynard and Jamie Howson but Wells could not find the back of the net, Westbury should have taken the lead but after good work down the right the strikers effort hit the post to the relief of Mike Roper in the Wells goal, Wells did take the lead on 29mins with a great ball from Joe Grant to Ramos who split the defence to Maynard who cut inside beat 2 defenders and his pinpoint cross was well put away by Tom Hurley 1-0 Wells, Mark Randell was then unlucky when his long range effort went just wide, Howson then shot just wide after good work from Maynard to bring the 1st half to an end 1-0 Wells.
The 2nd half was a carbon copy of the 1st half with the visitors hitting the post again and Wells doubling their lead on 88 mins with great work from sub George Carey and Ramos to set up a tap in for Maynard to cap a great performance and a good all-round team display from Wells.
