Man of the Match Ross McErlain award sponsored by Rose Brunt presented by Chairman Steve Loxton

Wells City 2-2 Shepton Mallet
Wells continued their fine run of results with a draw at home to local's Shepton Mallet, Wells took control of this local derby causing the Shepton defence problems with Jamie Howson and Tom Manning coming close and the visitor's keeper making a good save from Toby Cole, Shepton were then reduced to 10 men as a defender was sent off for a kick out at Jake Brown off the ball right in front of the referee, from the resulting free kick T Manning curled the ball just wide of the upright, Shepton started to get into the game and were rewarded when a corner to the back post was hit back across goal and side footed into the back of the net 1-0 Shepton, Wells continued to attack with Cole down the right but the keeper claimed his cross, but he could do nothing to stop Wells' equaliser on 38 mins from Howson after good work from Cole who crossed well from the right 1-1, both teams then had chances but the half ended all square.
Wells started poorly giving the ball away from the restart then giving away a free kick just outside the box, Shepton almost retook the lead when the freekick hit the post and went across goal and defended for a corner, and from the corner the attacker put his header just wide, Wells then broke down the right with Dan Williams and Brown who set up the returning Ross McErlain but his shot went wide, The visitors then retook the lead when a well taken freekick was met at the far post and guided in to the net 2-1 Shepton, on 81 mins Wells leveled as Cole again set up Howson to side foot home for 2-2, Manager Sam Andrews then went for the win with changes in personel with McErlain,Howson and Brown making way for Ross Padfield,Billy Manning and Ryan Crowther, but Wells could not get the winner and had to settled for the draw.
Sam Andrews said after the game, before kickoff i would have taken a draw, as they are 2nd in the table and on a good run, but we dominated the game from the start and should have been ahead early but couldn't finish, they scored from 2 set play's which is a worry and only had 10 men for a long period of the game, but we were behind twice we do not panic and played to a game plan, i think a draw was a fair result in a good local derby which had everything and infront of a big crowd on boxing day was great to be involved in.
