Wells City 5-1 Barnstaple Town
Wells returned to winning way's with a convincing win over Barnstaple Town at Rowdens rd on Tuesday night, Wells started the brightest against the visitors who are above them in the league, the first chance came from a Dan Williams cross but Ryan Crowther could'nt find the target, Barnstaple then broke down the right only for the shot to go straight at Ben Dancey in the Wells goal, Wells then scored on 12 mins with good work down the left from Crowther and Jason Loxton who set up Jamie Howson who curled the ball into the right hand corner of the net 1-0 Wells, Toby Cole then had a chance to add to the score but his chip over the advancing keeper went just over the bar, Barnstaple were then unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty when the ball struck a Wells defender on the arm but the referee waved play on and awarded a corner, Wells then attacked the visitors goal with Cole playing in Howson for a one on one with the keeper but put his shot wide, Francis Rolli then picked up the ball just in the Wells half and beat 3 players to cross for Howson but a defender just got his foot to the ball and put it out for a corner, from the corner by Mark Randall Lee Begg rose the highest to nod the ball in to the back of the net 2-0 Wells goal timed at 29 mins, Wells were playing good football at times getting Cole and Crowther behind the defence but could'nt get the 3rd goal but a great through ball from Steve Sokol set Cole free but was brought down by the keeper who was given a straight red card, from the freekick Randall hit the target but the stand in keeper saved well to keep the score at half time 2-0 Wells.
Wells started the second half slow giving away silly freekicks around the 18 yard box but the visitors were unable to beat Dancey, from a long throw by the home keeper Wells broke down the left with Randall and Crowther who beat his man and almost found Cole unmarked at the back post but his slide was just short, Wells then made it 3-0 on 56 mins with a Dan Williams throw-in to Francis Rolli who turned and shot in to the left hand side of the goal to extend the lead, Barnstaple then pumped everything they had into the box and were awarded a penalty for pushing which they converted 3-1, Wells then attacked again against the 10 men and from a corner taken by Rolli the defender cleared straight back to him and he beat 2 players and set up Begg at the near post to tap in his 2nd and Wells 4th goal timed at 65 mins, Wells then made changes with Ross Padfield replacing Loxton and Charlie Crook for Rolli in midfield, Wells continued to press forward and sub James Russell who had just replaced Howson struck an unstopable shot into the net on 90 mins after good work from Sokol 5-1 Wells and a well deserved 3 points.
