Disappoining display from Wells

Wells City 1-4 Chippenham Park
After a disappointing 0-0 draw at Corsham on Saturday Wells were hoping to get back into winning ways at home to Chippenham Park but were out played by the young side who deserved their 4-1 win, Mistakes seemed to have been sorted by Wells over the last few games but were made to pay this week as Chippenham pounced on every mistake and converted them all, Wells started slowly giving the visitors alot of the ball and only last ditch defending by Harry Lewis, Lee Begg, Ben Higgins and Mark Randall keeping Chippenham out, their were half chances at either end for both teams with the visitors coming close when a freekick went just over the bar, Wells then attacked down the right with Lewis who passed to Ross Padfield who set up Dan Williams whose shot went wide of the goal, Chippenham then opened the scoring with a break down the right the winger played a low cross into the box but was turned into his own goal by skipper Steve Sokol 1-0 Chippenham, the visitors almost doubled their lead when the centre back headed a corner against the bar the rebound was then well saved by Ben Dancey in the Wells goal, but from another cleared corner the visitors got their second with a well struck 25 yard shot into the top corner 2-0 Chippenham, Jamie Howson then had his shot well saved by the visiting keeper after good work from Ryan Crowther down the left, Wells then had a freekick just outside the box which Randall took but was well saved by the keeper, Chippenham then found themselves 2 on 2 but Wells defended well with the shot going over the bar, but it wasnt long before the visitors got their 3rd as a long kick from the visiting keeper was not dealt with by the Wells defence and the attacker chipped the ball over Dancey 3-0 Chippenham at half time.
The 2nd half started as the first half finished with Chippenham attacking the Wells goal gaining a corner straight from the kickoff which was headed just wide by the centre back, Chippenham then had a chance to extend their lead from the spot when the striker was brought down in the box but the spot kick was put wide, Wells then made changes with Jason Loxton and Ross Padfield were replaced by Francis Rolli and Billy Manning, Wells then started to play abit of football for the first time in the game, it was a Manning freekick that almost got Wells on the score sheet but was put just over by Lewis at the back post, Dan Williams then had his chance well saved by the keeper and another chance for Williams with an overhead kick but went just wide of the post, it was Chippenham that that scored the next goal when another long goal kick was not dealt with and the striker hit an unstoppable 25 yard shot 4-0 Chippenham, Wells then got on the score sheet with a consolation goal when good work from Harry Lewis down the right found Ryan Crowther whose diving header beat the keeper with ease 4-1 goal timed at 68 mins, Wells continued to attack and almost got their 2nd with a well struck freekick from Billy Manning went just over, Ryan Crowther then had his shot well saved again by the keeper then referee then brought the game to an end and a deserved win for Chippenham 4-1.
