Exciting finish gets the points for Wells

Wells City 2-1 Devizes Town
Wells were in a confident mood after back to back wins in the league as they faced a Devizes Town team 2 places above Wells in the league.
Wells trademark slow start and only poor finishing kept the score level, both teams tried attacking football but defences stayed strong with Lee Begg and Ben Higgins playing well at the back for Wells, Wells then started to play the ball around to gain confidence which work with chance starting to happen, Wells found the visiting keeper in great form claiming everything in the air, the first real chance fell to the visitors when a clearence fell to the Devizes midfielder who shot just wide, Harry Lewis put a through ball to Jamie Howson who was brought down on the edge of the box for a freekick which was taken by Tom Manning but his shot was well saved by the keeper, a long throw by the keeper set up a great chance for the visitors but the shot was hit straight at keeper Mike Roper, Wells then had a couple of good chances but good defending kept Wells out and a break down the right for the visitors produced the opening goal as the striker jumped for a cross and beat Mike Roper to the ball to nod home 1-0 Devizes, This seemed to wake the home team who pressed and Toby Cole had a shot well saved by the keeper from a corner by Mark Randall, Ben Higgins then put the ball over the top for Ryan Crowther to run on to and his one two with Tom Manning produced room but his shot went just over the bar, Crowther then had another chance after the keeper made a great save from Jamie Howson the ball fell to Crowther who shot and the keeper made another good save to keep the score at half time 1-0 to the away team.
After a stern talking to at the break Wells came out a different team, attacking the Devizes goal but were unable to beat the keepr who again made a great save from Jason Loxton, Wells then made a change with Francis Rolli replacing Ryan Crowther, Devizes then had their midfielder sent off after getting his 2nd yellow card, Harry Lewis was then replaced by Gavin Eyre and Ross Padfield with Charlie Crook, Jamie Howson then beat his marker and went into the box but a well timed challenge stopped him from shooting, a rare misstake by the visiting keeper on 86 mins let in Tom Manning who slotted the ball home after a great cross from Jason Loxton 1-1, Wells then pressed for the winner and Gavin Eyre came close down the right with a great shot at goal again well saved by the keeper, it was Francis Rolli who won the game in the 90+ min with a great run following a through ball from Jamie Howson, Rolli slipped the ball passed the advancing keeper to start the celebrations 2-1 Wells, Devizes then lost their discipline having another player sent off and their manager sent to the stand, the referee ended the game to the relief of the Wells bench and supporters, the game finished 2-1 to Wells.
Great news for Wells before the game the injury to Dan Williams is not as bad as first reported futher x-rays show no fracture and should return in a couple of weeks and Brad Allen is close to starting training after his ligiment damage.
