Another good performance gets the season started
Wells City FC 2-0 Chard Town
After a great performance on Saturday in the FA cup Wells were hoping to kick start their season with 3 points against Chard who have also not won a game this season, Wells dominated the game from start to finish with Keeper Mike Roper a spectator for most of the game, Wells attacked from the start and a free kick from Mark Randall cleared everyone in the box but found Ryan Crowther at the back post to head home the opener after 5 mins, Ben Higgins then went on a run from defence played a through ball to Kieron White whose 1st time ball set up Billy Manning who beat to players laid then laid the ball to Jamie Howson who shot just over, Wells continued to attack with great play from the midfield pair of Craig Rimmer and Jason Loxton with the latter hitting the crossbar from 25 yards out, Chard had the odd half chance but good defending from Wells kept it to long shots which most went wide, Another clearence from Ben Higgins found Jamie Howson who shot just wide, Mark Randall then put another great cross into the box but was just put over by Billy Manning, the game was then stopped on 43 mins for 20 mins waiting for an ambulance because of a knee injury to the impressive Brad Allen, The club wish him a speedy recovery, the referee brought the half to early end.
Wells brought on Charlie Crook at half time for Brad Allen, Wells were still in shock after the injury letting Chard have a chance at goal which was saved by Mike Roper, Wells continued to press the Chard goal but were unable to find the back of the net until the 68th min when Mark Randall stepped up with a 25 yard free kick which he curled into the right hand side of the goal giving the keeper no chance 2-0 Wells, 2 more changes for Wells with Craig Rimmer and Kieron White being replaced by Francis Rolli and Dan Williams, Wells ran out the game with great play from Jason Loxton and Dan Williams but could not add to the score, Wells finishing with all 3 points and another fine performance.
