Man of the match Steve Sokol collecting his award from President Paul Randall. Award sponsored by Maureen Barber.

Wells City FC 0 - 1 Wellington
After a disappointing result on saturday at Calne, Wells were hoping to kick start their season against Wellington, But just like saturday Wells ran the game but one mistake cost them again, Wells started the brightest creating the first chance with Steve Sokol setting up Tom Manning whose shot was just wide, Both teams were playing attacking football but the defenses were staying strong, but on 26 mins Wellington opened the scoring when a cross from the left was met at the back post a half volly by the striker hit the back of the net giving Mike Roper no chance 0-1 Wellington. Wells responded straight away when a free kick 25 yards out by Tom Manning was fumbled by the keeper but their was no one following up, Wellington then had a chance to double their score but great defending by Ben Higgins blocking twice on the edge of the six yard box keeping it to 1-0 at half time.
Wells came out after the break hoping to break the Wellington defence and almost did with the best move of the game, Mike Roper catching a corner and throwing to Tom Manning who passed to Keiron White who passed to Jason Loxton who played a one two with Jamie Howson and his shot went just over the bar, Wells then made 2 changes with Toby Cole and Keiron White being Replaced by Ryan Crowther and Billy Manning, Wells then had a chance to level the score when a through ball from Billy Manning was just hit wide by Jamie Howson, Wellington should have been reduced to 10 men after a two footed challenge on Mark Randall by the away centre back only him a yellow card, Brad Allen then replaced Oli Bryant which then changed the formation for Wells, this made a big difference as chances started to come for Wells with a freekick by Billy Manning was blocked by the away sides wall but the ball fell to Mark Randall whose shot was blocked again by the defence, Wells continued to attack but could not breakthe away defence with the score finishing 1-0 Wellington.
Sam Andrews said we are playing some good football but the odd mistake is costing us, we need to be more clinical in front of goal if we are to progress this season, but we are not panicking yet its only 2 games in and the results will come, the atmosphere in the changing room is good the commitment is their and team spirit is good.
