After an enforced week off following the excellent performance against Warminster, Wells returned to action on the artificial pitch at Roman Glass. Wells lost some of the momentum from that game and we a shadow of that team.
Wells started slowly and found it difficult to adapt to the pitch. The home side forced a number of corners in the early minutes of the game but were kept at bay by Will Justin, but on 20 minutes he had no chance with a powerful header from the Roman Glass centre forward. Wells had little chance to settle as 5 minutes later when a missed pass in midfield gave possession to Roman Glass another chance to go two goals up.
However, within five minutes Wells reduced the arrears when a lovely dribble by Batchelor resulted a pass to Lee Pitman who volleyed the ball into the right corner of the goal.
Wells had plenty of opportunities going forward but found themselves offside about a dozen times. The failure to overcome the offside trap did not help and Wells paid the penalty for the waste of these opportunities when Roman Glass went further behind five minutes into the second half.
Wells did not look like reducing the arrears in the second half and their attacks came up against a resolute and well organised defence. With half an hour to go manager Mark Read made a double substitution bringing on Thomas and Price for Allen and Purnell but they made little impact.
Wells can play a lot better than this and hope to get back to winning ways with a visit to Keynsham Town in the FA Vase on Saturday
