Manager Mark Read was hoping for an improved performance after the team’s first poor display of the season against Portishead. He made one change, bringing in Steve Sokol as a holding midfielder.
Wells coped well with the artificial pitch which suited their passing game, but found themselves behind after 10minutes after losing possession in their own half. This resulted in wicked deflection from a defender which gave Will Justin no chance.
This did not put Wells off and they continued their quick passing energetic style. The fight back started after 30 minutes when Lee Pitman drove well across the goal from the right and the good play continued ten minutes later when a long cross from the right found Jake Brown for an excellent rare headed goal. Half time found dominating the game.
Wells continued in the same vein in the second half when a superb run by Ollie Bryant found him unmarked in front of the goal to put Wells 3-1 up. They were cruising for the remainder of the game, but were wasting some good possession and looked good even when Keynsham pulled one back with 5 minutes to go. Two points were wasted after 2 minutes of injury time when a defensive slip allowed Keynsham to equalise. Despite the loss of these points, Wells have had a good start to the season and are third in the table having played some of the top teams.
