WELLS CITY U18 v W-S-M U19

WELLS CITY U18 1-2 WESTON-super-MARE U18

Wells City U18 welcomed county rivals Weston-s-Mare to the Athletic Ground for an FA Youth cup 1st Qualifying Round tie played in blustery conditions. The first half saw numerous chances falling to the home side but they just could not find the net, after resolute defending from the visitors. W-S-M had their fair share of attempts on goal which were denied by some excellent keeping from the home stopper Harvey Stewart.
On 22 minutes a penalty was awarded to W-S-M and the spot kick was converted.
After the break the Blues continued to play some neat football and had more chances to equalise but the visiting keeper was in top form to deny them. As the rain poured down the game was far from over with City having chance after chance, the breakthrough finally arrived when a corner was not cleared, and Tom Harrison curled a left foot effort past the keeper to level the score. City continued to play some nice football and had more chances to score, but it was W-S-M who scored the decisive 3rd goal to go through to the next round.
The Young Blues can be super proud of their performance and can look forward to an exciting league programme.
