We’re in the final.
My heart rate has just about settled after Tuesday night. It was a proper occasion. A tight game, a strong atmosphere, and a finish that tested everyone. We came through on penalties against Avonmouth FC and put ourselves into the playoff final.
It wasn’t always pretty. It didn’t need to be. The players stayed in it, stuck to the task, and handled the pressure when it mattered. That tells you a lot about this group.
The noise on the night made a difference. From the first whistle to the last kick, the backing was there. The kids on the drums, the energy around the ground, all of it helped carry the team through. Thank you for that.
The Final
Sturminster Newton United finished second in the league. They have home advantage and beat us home and away this season, so they go into this as favourites.
So we travel to Dorset as underdogs. That suits us. In playoff football, it is one game. We have a chance.
Kick off: 15:00, Saturday 26 April.

End of season
Whatever happens on Saturday, this has been a season to be proud of!
To the coaching staff, thank you. The work behind the scenes shows when the pressure is on.
To the players, across every squad and age group, you represent this club properly.
To the grounds team and those who keep things running, it does not go unnoticed.
To the supporters, volunteers, committee, parents, and everyone who gives their time, thank you. The club runs because of you!
And to the wider club, from the women’s teams through to the youth sides and veterans, this is one club. We must always go forward remembering that.
Saturday is one more game. This season has already shown what Wells City FC is about.
If we take Tuesday night with us, we give ourselves a real chance.
See you Saturday
