Bristol City Academy Women U10s vs WELLS CITY JPL

What a way to recover from a tough opening match in the Junior Premier League. Wells were more relaxed after a nervous start to their JPL season against South Gloucester last week and put the Bristol girls to the sword with a fine performance that ended with a double-figure victory.

The two teams exchanged goals in the opening quarter, with goals from Edwin (2) and Noah being answered in turn by strikes from a Bristol City side containing some physical, skillful girls who were a year older than the Wells boys. But after those edgy opening exchanges, Wells began to show their superior quality. Rory broke down the left late in the first period and drilled a shot into the far corner to make it 4-3, before a quick-fire hat-trick from Noah saw Wells build a comfortable lead that they never looked like surrendering.

The goal of the game came when Alfie intercepted a loose pass before charging through the middle and smacking home a powerful shot past the City keeper. By this point Wells were playing with real freedom, and Kosmo sensed his moment of glory when he glided forward and sent a long-range shot crashing against the post.

The City girls had a late flurry but were snuffed out by Josh B in goal, before Noah latched onto a pass from Edwin to hammer home a shot from distance to put the seal on the victory. There was still time for one more goal from Noah to complete his double hat-trick, before the whistle blew to signal the end of a fantastic performance from Wells. That's now 15 goals scored in two games from the smallest club in the JPL!

Goals: Noah (6), Edwin (2), Alfie, Rory
Man of the match: Alfie - asked to drop back into defence, he did that role wonderfully as well as being everywhere in midfield and scoring a peach of a goal.
