Wells hosted Yate Town in this FA Youth cup tie where the home side started brightly and were in control of the game early on scoring through Shaka Moody and a second soon followed by defender Cam Glendinning. City keeper Tom Creed was rarely tested but made a couple of fine saves when required, the back four of Glendinning, Sheldrake, Diamond and Ellis kept the away side firmly at bay.
The visitors pulled a goal back shortly after the break before Cornish put the home side further ahead with a fine finish. Yate continued to ask questions and pulled another back to make it 3-2. A penalty to City saw the calm Moody step up and slot the ball home . Yate, never gave up and scored a third with 10 minutes to go but the spirit and passion shown by Wells was enough to see them through to the third qualifying round of this precious competition.
