Fighting performance from Wells

Wells new this was going to be a tough game against an inform Almondsbury side who sit 4th in the table and with Wells having a mixed season with injuries to key players and not being able to train with so many evening games lie 15th, but Wells have never given up their fight to finish as high up the league as possible, and this draw showed their desire when playing over half an hour with only 10 men as Ryan Pledger saw red for an off the ball challenge, Wells started well with Harry Lewis providing 2 through balls for Jamie Howson and Tom Hurley but neither able to hit the target, Both teams had a number of corners but the keepers made sure it stayed goalless with Ben Dancey making some great 1 on 1 saves.
The second half started with the visitors getting into the game and could have taken the lead but the striker pulled his shot just wide and then the visitors had the best chance of the game as the referee awarded a penalty after a great tackle from Dan Williams was adjudged to have brought the striker down in the box, But Dancey was not going to let his clean sheet go with a great save and the rebound was put wide for a goal kick, Wells were then reduced to 10 men after an off the ball incident, but this made no diferance to the way Wells played as they kept their shape leaving Howson the lone striker, Andrews then changed personel with Mark Randall and Ross Padfield replacing the hard working James Russell and returning Jason Loxton, With 5 mins remaining Almondsbury were reduced to 10 men with a second yellow for their centre back but neither side sat back with 5 mins of added time but a 0-0 draw seemed a fair result, with Andrews the happier of the 2 managers.
