Man of the Match Mark Randall.

Wells City 1 Corsham Town 1

Wells City will feel a tad disappointed in the fact they failed to pick up all three points in a drawn game at home to Corsham Town on Wednesday night.

A much changed Wells side selected with the emphasis on youth, performed really well for long periods in a game they dominated and Corsham Town will feel a sigh of relief that they picked up a point.

Wells City dominated the opening exchanges, but it was the visitors who almost drew first blood when a Dan Williams mistake allowed Keiran Gleed a sight of goal, but his shot was brilliantly saved low down by Mike Riper.

It was the home side however who almost scored two goals in the space of a minute as Jamie Howson shot wide when well placed and Darren Maynard rode two tackles brilliantly before firing inches wide of the far post.

Maynard had what looked like an easier chance late in the half, but his control let him down having received a superb 40 yard cross field ball from Ross Mcerlain.

The visitors who had created little in the opening 44 minutes, almost broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time as a perfect Adam Cassolly cross to the far post looked like meat and drink for Greed in front of goal, but Mark Randall with a perfectly timed tackle cleared the danger.

Wells continued to dominate at the start of the second half and Jamie Howson went close with a shot on the turn, following good link up play between Mcerlain and Randall.

Against the run of play Corsham took the lead as Wells failed to clear a corner and Jack Moores send a thumping effort past Roper from 18 yards on 56 minutes.

Wells responded quickly and Darren Maynard was unlucky to see a goal bound effort saved by the outstretched leg of Corsham keeper Mark Billingsley.

Maynard again did well in the build up to the Wells City equaliser as he forced a defender to foul him on the byline and from Mark Randall's perfectly weighted free kick, Ross Mcerlain headed powerfully home in front the near post.

The home side were unlucky not to pick up all three points late on when a George Carey corner was met by the boot of Ross Mcerlain and the midfielders powerful volley crashed against the Corsham crossbar.

In the final minute a superb Jamie Howson shot from 19 yards on the turn, flew inches over the crossbar.
