Better performance by Wells

After a poor performance mid-week Wells produced a better show against 2nd in the table Cribbs at Rowdens road, Cribbs started the brightest breaking down the right with Ben Dancey claiming a cross and setting up an attack for Wells with a cross from Jamie Howson but Tom Manning hits wide, Cribbs almost opened the scoring when a cross was well controlled by the striker who shot just wide, both teams attacked but the defences stayed strong with Jason Loxton coming close when his long range shot went just over the bar, Mark Randall then made a great tackle to prevent the striker from getting his shot off, Wells then thought they had taken the lead when a great shot from Tom Manning was deflected on to the bar but Jamie Howson followed up and hit the bar again with a diving header which was then gathered by the visiting keeper, Cribbs then had a great chance to open the scoring when the referee gave a penalty for a hand ball which only he saw but Ben Dancey saved well to his right to keep the score level at half time.
The second half started as the first half finished with both team playing attacking football but it was Wells who struck first when a corner from Mark Randall went past everyone and found Francis Rolli at the back post who scored with a well hit shot 1-0 Wells timed at 50 mins, Wells then had to defend as Cribbs attacked looking for the equaliser but a freekick from 25 yards was well saved by Dancey who at full stretch tipped the ball on to the cross bar and away, Wells were unlucky not to add to their lead with good play from Jason Loxton set up Rolli whose shot went just wide, Cribbs then got their leveler with a break down the right the winger turned inside and crossed to the striker who tapped in from close range 1-1, Cribbs continued to go for the winner but Wells defended well, Wells then made changes with Billy Manning and Toby Cole replacing Dan Williams and Francis Rolli, the visitors were again stopped from taking the lead with another great save from Dancey, it was Wells who almost took all 3 points when a freekick from Billy Manning was well met by the head of Cole but it was well saved by the visiting keeper, the referee then brought the game to an end 1-1.
