Wells City 1 - Roman Glass 1

Despite being the dominant side over the 90 minutes, Wells City will feel bitterly disappointed that they dropped points for the first time in eight games against lowly Roman Glass St George.

City have stormed into promotion contention in recent weeks, brushing aside teams with comparative ease, but they were brought back down to earth by a determined Roman Glass side.

The hosts remain ideally placed for a late promotion push and they still have games in hand over their nearest rivals, but they will feel this was two points dropped.

The game was scrappy from the start as City struggled to play their natural passing game in the early stages, but it was still the home side that created all of chances in the opening minutes as wayward finishing and good goalkeeping kept the scores level at the interval.

The second half was almost a repeat of the first as Lee Pitman and Jake Brown both went close for the home side, but completely against the run of play it was the visitors who took a surprise lead on 81 minutes.

A shot from distance by Tom Sellers appeared to be covered by City goalkeeper Will Justin, but a nasty bobble in front of the shot-stopper saw the ball lift over him and loop into the back of the net for what was a soft goal.

It did not take long for the home side to get themselves back on level terms, though, as within 60 seconds a break down the right flank from Brown saw the striker lay the ball perfectly into the path of Pitman to score.
