Wells first game of the new season couldn't have gone much better

Wells' first game of the new season couldn't have gone much better, against a Warminster Town team who have been tipped for promotion this season, hard work and determination gave Wells a convincing 3-0 win. New signings Harry Penfold and Dariuz Davey at the back were solid giving only the odd chance but Alex Henderson in goal saved everything that came his way, Manager Sam Andrews said in his program notes he wanted to play attractive football which every member of the squad played their part in, and with the great support from the blue army, everyone went home happy.

Wells started the game well playing down both flanks with Mark Randall and Oli Bryant putting great crosses into the box. It wasn't long before the pressure was rewarded when a Ross McErlain shot was deflected and Dan Williams was on hand to head home giving Wells a 1-0 lead on 23 minutes, and the lead was extended on 32 minutes when a Tom Manning free kick was well controlled by Jamie Howson and his quick turn beat his marker and his shot went under the diving keeper for 2-0. Steve Sokol worked hard in midfield finding himself in great positions but Wells were unable to extend the lead. Wells finished the half strongly but with only a 2-0 lead.

The 2nd half started well with Randall shooting from long range making the visiting keeper scramble the ball out for a corner, Wells put the game well out of reach of the visitors with a 3rd goal on 74 minutes when Williams had his shot well saved but Howson was on hand to side foot the ball home for his 2nd and Wells' 3rd. Wells were forced to make a change when an eye injury to Davey ended his game being replaced by Fabio Ramos. Wells continued to attack and great efforts from Howson and Sokol and a great save from Henderson kept the score at 3-0 and a great result for Wells.
