But a Jekyll and Hyde performance

Wells produced another Jekyll and Hyde performance, but eventually ran out comfortable winners against newly promoted Bridport.
The South Dorset side had little in the way of resistance during an exhilarating second half display by the Blues which saw the home side pull away from their rivals by hitting the back of the net 4 times.
City again struggled in the opening period and were all at sea as Bridport took command, driven on by the industrious Dan Wise in the heart of the midfield. The visitors deservedly took the lead in the 10th minute when a shot from outside the box by Adam Symes was only parried by Wells keeper Owen Dunn into the path of Darren Watts who made no mistake from 5 yards out.
Wells drew level 5 minutes later with a typical Steve Murray goal. The ace striker received the ball 20 yards from goal and went on a mesmerising run which was ended with the ball being firmly driven past Bridport custodian Sam Filkins. Unfortunately for the home supporters, parity did not last very long as the Bees restored their advantage. Sloppy defending and the inability the clear their lines by the Wells defence resulted in Tom Richardson having a free shot and goal, and the strikers fine first time effort rippled the onion bag.
Although City were far from their best, they did manage a goal of pure quality just to enter the break on an even keel. After a goalmouth scramble, the ball reached Ross McErlain on the edge of the box, and the midfielder placed a delightful chip into the top of the corner.
The opportunity to take stock and assess the first half proceedings and right any wrongs appeared to do the trick, as the second half was all City as the ripped into the visitors. The second period was less than a minute old when Adam Jones turned sharply inside the box to score with a fine finish. This goal gave City all the confidence they needed, and soon Murray opened his box of tricks again, scoring with a shot from an acute angle on the hour after another run which saw him skip past 4 defenders.
The game was over as a contest when substitute Jamie Gowers latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the box to send an unstoppable strike low past Filkins.
With only minutes to go, Bridport substitute Dan Peart upended Murray inside the penalty area, and the striker dispatched the spot kick high into the roof of the net.
Bridports, and Pearts, misery was completed in the final minute when the Bridport player was shown a straight red card by the referee for striking out in frustration after Ben Hurley had left in standing.
An excellent 3 points and a great win for City, on an evening when they won big when not being at their best.
