Almondsbury UWE 3-1 Wells City
Wells travelled to unbeaten Almondsbury in mid week and started the game well with good work from James Russell and Oli Bryant, and from a great corner from Russell on the right he found Ben Robertson at the back post who almost slid the ball past the home keeper but his effort went wide, the home side then took control of the play and Alex Henderson saved well after a long pass down the left, Dan Catley then hit a long shot wide after good work from Jamie Howson and Dan Williams, the home side took the lead after good work down the centre the mid fielder found his striker unmarked to slip the ball under the advancing Henderson 1-0, Wells thought they had levelled the score with a great header from Howson but the home keeper made a fantastic reaction save to tip the ball onto the bar which was then cleared up field to end the half.
Wells continued to press forward after the break with Tom Manning getting into the game and on 53 mins Wells were awarded a penalty after the ball was played into the box and a turn by Howson his shot was handled by the defender up stepped Dan Williams to score from the spot 1-1, Wells were incontrol and a breakaway almost gave them the lead but Mannings cross was just to high for Williams and his effort went wide, Almondsbury then took the lead with a break down the right a cross into the box was well struck in to the net by the forward for 2-1, George Carey then replaced Fabio Ramos and his pace up front caused the home defence problems, Catley was then replaced by Harry Penfold and his close control and touch almost set up Carey to level the score but his shot went just wide, the home team then closed the game with a controversial goal went a dropped cross by Henderson was toe poked towards goal but Ross Padfield was on the line and cleared the ball but the assistant flagged for a goal to make it 3-1 to finish the game off.
Man of the Match Tom Manning.
